Wires Over Water
This illustration started with the view across a small pool toward the buildings beyond it. The scene is ordinary, but the arrangement of lines gives it a little more tension than it seems to deserve. Fences, balconies, windows, poles, and wires all push across the frame at different angles.
The reflection changes the scene without really softening it. The water repeats the buildings, the railings, and the utility lines, but the reflected version feels darker and less stable. It turns the bottom half of the image into a second structure rather than a simple mirror.
The colors are deliberately limited. Dusty reds and muted pinks hold the walls and sky together, while the dark blue-green water gives the image its weight. The nearly black lines keep everything connected and make the quieter blocks of color feel more deliberate.
What interested me was the balance between the built environment and its reflection. Nothing dramatic is happening in the picture. It is just a view of buildings, fences, and wires, held in place by the pool below. The stillness comes from treating all of those competing lines as part of the same composition.
